In more modest settings, pair these pieces with nude underpinnings, Buccini suggests. Or if your plans are taking you by the water, a crocheted cover-up is a chic choice with your swimsuit underneath for an easy beach-to-city transition.

Open knits don’t require much more layering than your normal dresses or tops, and “often they are delivered with a matching slip, like this Proenza Schouler one,” says Buccini. Depending on the piece, these styles can easily transition from day to night, as well. Buccini opts for “a simple nude camisole underneath” an open-knit top for day trips into the city, switching into “a sexy silk bra in a matching color” for the evening.
